tvOS 16.4.1 is intended to address some bugs in Apple TV devices. This comes several days after new bugfix updates for iPhone, Mac, and iPad.
A new tvOS update means there’s new HomePod software too.
It’s time to update Apple TV and HomePod
iOS 16.4.1 and iPadOS 16.4.1 was released on April 7, with macOS 13.3.1. But Apple TV devices did not receive a system software update at this time.
That has now changed with the Wednesday release of tvOS 16.4.1. This is for all versions of Apple TV 4K as well as Apple TV HD.
The official release notes could not be more vague. Apple only says that “This update includes performance and stability improvements”. Nevertheless, updating is recommended.
HomePods run a modified version of tvOS, so it’s no surprise that HomePod 16.4.1 software has also been released. Its release notes are identical to those of tvOS.
For those keeping score, only watchOS hasn’t been updated recently. Even AirPods have new firmware this week.
