iPhone 15 Pro rumors have been on the rise lately, with the latest leak seemingly backing up many of the design changes we’ve heard about in 2023.
While a series of Unofficial iPhone 15 Pro renders recently gave us our best look at Apple’s next flagship handset, an alleged iPhone 15 Pro model – posted on the Chinese social media platform Douyin (opens in a new tab) – has now offered a hands-on preview of the long-awaited successor to the excellent iPhone 14 Pro.
As first spotted by PhoneArena (opens in a new tab)the Pro level model iPhone 15 teases a USB-C port, gently curved edges and a unified rocker-style volume knob; three design elements suggested by previous rumors are coming to the iPhone 15 Pro.
We were almost certain, for example, that the iPhone 15 Pro will arrive with solid-state (i.e. non-physical) buttonsand this new dummy model does indeed appear to feature volume, mute and power buttons that could possibly be haptic rather than mechanical.
The presence of a USB-C port on the iPhone 15 Pro now also seems a formality. THE EU told Apple it needs to add USB-C charging ports to iPhones from 2024, but this dummy model – associated with previous leaked photos showing an iPhone 15 Pro with a USB-C port – suggests the company will make the switch in 2023.
Since this mockup is likely aimed at iPhone 15 Pro case makers, there are a handful of rumored features that it doesn’t – or rather can’t – corroborate. For example, we expect the The iPhone 15 Pro will have much thinner display bezels than the iPhone 14 Probut the model in question does not feature any distinctive display markings.
Why do I want you to believe it’s true? Because the proof comes not only from CAD renderings, but also from physical objects: the glass shell of the iPhone is part of the phone, not a protective film. So, its bezel is equal to the bezel of the phone. Bezel:15=14P>15P pic.twitter.com/FRkLi2b4zRApril 8, 2023
As for other features that could be coming to the iPhone 15 Pro (and the widely rumored iPhone 15 Ultra), we learn that a chip upgrade – likely in the form of an A17 Bionic – will be exclusive to Apple’s most expensive iPhones, with recent leaks hinting that this processor could make the iPhone 15 Pro as fast as a MacBook M1. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, on the other hand, are expected to inherit last year’s A16 Bionic.
A titanium frame and periscope camera were also touted as coming with the iPhone 15 Ultra, which is expected to replace the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
It is worth noting that Apple could be preparing to switch to eSIM in countries other than the United States for the iPhone 15 rangewith eSIMs that would arrive on the next generation of Apple best iPhones In France. This is great news for all potential iPhone 15 buyers outside of the United States. Apple generally sells the same iPhone models in most of Europe, which means that SIM-free iPhone 15s could also arrive in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal and in many other countries.
We expect Apple to officially lift the lid on its iPhone 15 lineup in September, but we’ll stay up to date on all the latest iPhone 15 news, rumors and leaks in the months ahead.
