The Apple Watch has been one of the company’s most successful products. Although it didn’t have a perfect launch, Apple has been working to update both software and hardware to make it one of the best portable devices you can buy right now. It looks like the upcoming watchOS 10 will be the biggest watchOS update in a while.
In his last Power-Up Bulletin (opens in a new tab), Mark Gurman said that updating watchOS this time should be big. The watchOS updates have been small and iterative for a while, so we can expect watchOS 10 to bring some significant changes.
“Notable Changes” Coming to the Apple Watch UI
Gurman said watchOS 10 will bring notable changes to the Apple Watch user interface. Updates to watchOS have been relatively minor for a while, but with the debut of the Apple Watch Ultra last year, it looks like Apple is gearing up to make some changes to the way the best apple watches work.
It’s worth noting that iOS 17 is supposed to be a minor update in terms of visual design, but watchOS 10 apparently won’t. Gurman wrote, “I think the new watchOS should be a fairly comprehensive update — with notable UI changes — unlike iOS 17. It’s important that watchOS has a big year given that the updates Apple Watch hardware updates will be anything but major. “
Gurman also noted that hardware changes for the Apple Watch in 2023 are expected to be minor, which is why Apple is aiming higher with the software upgrade. He wrote: “The device is set for a more modest year after big changes in 2022 when the first Apple Watch Ultra made its debut. There are plans for a major hardware update to the watch in 2024, with a larger, custom display. »
Apple appears to be gearing up to change the Apple Watch by 2024, with watchOS 10 arriving ahead of the larger hardware upgrade.
