Here are the world’s first wired AirPods

Engineer And Pillonel was the first to modify the iPhone with a functioning USB-C port in 2021 and he did the same for AirPods And AirPods Pro Cases. Now Ken is back with what he calls his “most innovative project yet”, the wired USB-C AirPods.

On his Youtube channel Today Ken showed off a preview of his work to deconstruct and repair his broken 2020 AirPods and upgrade them with the reliability of a wired USB-C cable.

He points out that the first and second generation AirPods received a repairability score of 0/10 from iFixit, making them impossible to repair for most people. However, not one to settle for the status quo, Ken tore them apart to figure out how to make them even better – with a thread of trust.

Also improving on the AirPods, Ken decided to create the wired USB-C headphones with a super smooth black and white two-tone aesthetic. There’s no way anyone will confuse them with the boring, regular wireless AirPods.

Discover the process and the end result:

April Fool’s joke aside, Ken hopes the tongue-in-cheek project will give people pause before buying irreparable goods or considering opting for wired headphones which do not have irreplaceable batteries.

Apple is still selling its original wired AirPods – called EarPods with both 3.5mm And Lightning connectors. And of course, there are tons of third-party wired options.

However, there is a company that has figured out how to replace the AirPods battery on a certain scale. The exchange club offers swaps of your dead AirPods with a refurbished pair with fresh batteries.
