Could you imagine not having to lift a finger after ordering an AI to create an entire PowerPoint slide for you? Well, no more daydreaming. Microsoft’s AI Future of Work kicked off today, and we’re blown away by what the Redmond-based tech giant has in store for the future of Microsoft 365.
As we saw with the launch of Microsoft’s AI-powered Bing, the company is moving forward with the rollout ChatGPT-flavored services to the masses – and this AI event solidified Microsoft’s AI-focused ambitions (h/t Digital trends).
ChatGPT will facilitate PowerPoint and other Microsoft applications
Microsoft is about to introduce Copilot to Microsoft 365 Apps. Let’s break down what that means. First, as it stands, many developers are currently using GitHub Copilot, a tool from OpenAI – the company that launched ChatGPT – which uses the power of AI to help them write code.
Microsoft plans to harness the intelligence of Copilot for Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and more, allowing users to unlock a level of productivity that could never have been achieved before.
So, in the future, you can simply dictate your ideas to Copilot and thereby turn your simple prompts into a full presentation. You can even use Copilot to help you consolidate long slides into a single summary. The possibilities are limitless!
Check out the following use cases below to see how Copilot will power other Microsoft 365 apps.
- Microsoft Word – Get rid of “writer’s block” by using the built-in Copilot tool, which can create early drafts for you. You can even ask Copilot which tone to use (e.g. professional or casual?) to find the best pitch with your target audience.
- Excel – Do you have a huge Excel data sheet? Ask Copilot to give you a summary of the data in an easy-to-digest way. He can even go so far as to suggest “What if?” scenarios based on the data you feed.
- Outlook – Did you go on vacation for a week? Ask Copilot to give you a summary of all the emails you missed while you were away. Plus, you can also rely on Copilot to draft invitations, responses, and more on your behalf.
- Teams – With Copilot, you can create meeting agendas based on your teams’ chat history. If you missed a meeting, you can ask Copilot to summarize the points raised.
Since Microsoft announced its investment in OpenAI in January, the artificial intelligence company has suddenly taken explosive steps that have rocked the tech industry.
Not so long ago we wrote about Launch of GPT-4 and how it is better than the latest ChatGPT iteration. Now, we’re already hearing that a ChatGPT-esque engine will power Microsoft 365 apps in the future – all that AI stuff is coming to us fast!
