With the popularity of ChatGPT, the number of Chrome extensions continues to grow. Some are useful, though a lot of them… aren’t that great. However, we have found some of the best extensions to minimize search and maximize the ChatGPT experience on Chrome.
You can’t be part of everyday internet culture, or at least someone with internet access, and escape the ChatGPT talk – whether you like it or not. That, and South Park just covered that, so you know, that’s a big deal right now.
For anyone who needs a quick refresher, ChatGPT is the language-based chatbot created by OpenAI that lets you generate text answers to questions about the universe, prompts for poems, or brainstorming ideas. meninges (and much more). You can use ChatGPT for many thingsthe only fundamental limits being your imagination (and the fact that the answers are text-based, of course).
Whether you use ChatGPT for free or pay for the Plus subscription, interacting with the bot is definitely an experience, to say the least. The conversational tone is almost disarming as you try to find out whether or not he plans to take on the world or ask him for love life advice.
However, ChatGPT’s user interface is quite basic compared to its capabilities. Pending further updates and feature extensions, third-party browser extensions are your friend if you want easier and faster access to ChatGPT and add features to get the most out of the AI bot.
ChatGPT for Google
The chrome extension ChatGPT for Google is a must-have if you are looking to further integrate AI into your daily life and make the most of this vast source of knowledge. The extension will display results from the chatbot alongside standard Google search results, so you can get a quick overview of everything you’re looking for on Google while you search for results from the right page.
Some queries will work better than others with this: you won’t get the latest weather or sports reports, but you can get fairly detailed answers to questions about human biology, basic cleaning hacks, and historical facts. Most of your queries will likely come with a ChatGPT response, but be prepared for the bot to sometimes draw a blank.
A small box in the corner is embedded next to the usual search results, and you can initiate a conversion with ChatGPT right from the page if you want to discuss it or learn more.
Use voice commands – Promptheus
Fan of Alexa or Siri? Want to bring the conversation into the real world (on your side anyway) and get answers quickly without having to type everything out? Prompt is for you! This Chrome extension lets you speak directly to ChatGPT using the spacebar on your keyboard so you can skip typing and get all your burning questions answered using your voice.
Once the extension is installed, open Chrome, go to ChatGPT and hold down the spacebar to start talking. We’ve used it several times while writing this article, and it speeds up the workflow, since you just swap tabs, ask your question, read the answer, and move on.
Export and Share ChatGPT
Currently, if you want to transfer content from ChatGPT to other places, you have to rely on the old trusty copy-paste, but with Export and Share ChatGPT (which works with Chrome, Edge, and Firefox), you can streamline the export process in ChatGPT.
It might take a minute to set it up in the browser, but once you’re done you’ll get new export buttons near the prompt box to make things much easier when you’re ready to save your content .
You’ll have options to save your chats as images or PDFs, and you can also create shareable links if you have something special you want to share quickly.
Merlin
With Merlin you can have ChatGPT at your fingertips and pull it off with no problem. The extension lets you summarize large chunks of text or reply to an email at any time, essentially giving you a little AI assistant at your disposal!
Once the extension is installed, select a block of text, then press Ctrl+M on Windows or Cmd+M on macOS, then tell Merlin what you want ChatGPT to do. Summarize, answer, write, etc. If you have a tricky email you need to respond to, just select the text in the thread, bring up Merlin, and have ChatGPT write a diplomatic response for you.
Since there is a simple hotkey to activate the extension, it is very easy to integrate Merlin into your daily routine very quickly, but keep in mind that you are limited to around 31 requests per day.
So far, we’ve only listed a few extensions in this article, but we hope to add more as they appear and people become familiar with ChatGPT. We barely see how ChatGPT fits into our lives as it becomes more mainstream, so there’s no doubt that as technology cements itself into everyday life and more and more people find ways interesting to use ChatGPT, we will see a lot more useful extensions.
