Popular outdoor products company Yeti remembers nearly 2 million of its flex coolers and gear cases on a magnet issue that could cause them to be swallowed.
Affected Yeti products are being recalled because the magnetic closure may fail and detach, posing a “risk of serious injury or death if swallowed,” the Consumer Product Safety Commission said. the United States. said in a press release THURSDAY.
The CPSC said that when two or more magnets break loose and are ingested, they can attract each other or another metal object and become lodged in the digestive system, which could cause perforations, twisting and/or blockage of the intestines, infection, blood poisoning and death.

Which Yeti products are being recalled?
Yeti said 1.9 million soft coolers and gear boxes are being recalled in the United States, with an additional 40,760 sold in Canada. The recalled products are:
- Hopper M30 Soft Cooler 1.0 and 2.0
- Hopper M20 Soft Backpack Cooler
- SideKick Dry Gear Case
All of the recalled products were sold in a variety of colors and featured the Yeti brand name on the front. They also have a hang tag with the product name attached to them.
When and where were Yeti products sold?
The recalled products were sold from March 2018 to January 2023. They were sold at various retail stores, including Yeti and its online store, Dick’s Sporting Goods, ACE Hardware, Academy Sports + Outdoors, and online at Amazon.

Have injuries been reported?
The Yeti reported to CPSC that it had received 1,399 reports of magnetic closures degrading or failing, as well as them disappearing or becoming detached.
No magnet ingestion or injury has been reported.

What should I do if my Yeti product is recalled?
If you have one of the recalled soft coolers and gear cases, CPSC advises that you stop using the product and contact Yeti to receive a full refund or replacement product.
