We all know it’s true: when you reach a certain age, your habit of staying up late until dawn starts to fade, and all of a sudden the mosh pits at 10 p.m. seem like a fruitless excursion. which will usually leave you with a pulled muscle or sore back to deal with the next morning. Or, maybe you just never lived that late gig life and enjoy it a little more than most of your bed.
Not everyone is so easily turned away from evening outings, but Halloween Legend Jamie Lee Curtis is a music fan who would like the live stage to be revamped somewhat to make it a more enjoyable experience for those who don’t consider themselves willing to wait all night to see the bands they enjoy.
During a red carpet chat at the Independent Spirit Awards this weekend on March 4, Curtis said The Hollywood Reporter that she actually turned down his invitation to an Oscar nominee dinner due to her desire to go to bed early and that she would like more events, like concerts, to take place earlier in the day.
“Why? Because mom is going to bed early,” enthuses the actor. !”.
Then, pleading for gigs to have a matinee option, she adds, “I’m just going to say this now as a taunt and as a suggestion. U2: make a morning. Coldplay: make a morning. How about a midday concert, Coldplay? What about, Bruce Springsteen? Have a fucking morning! You are old! Why don’t you let me come see you, Bruce Springsteen, in your glory days – pun intended – and do it at noon or one? two o’clock! two-hour morning!
“Theatre in New York, two hours! I’ll come listen to your five o’clock concert, Bruce, at two o’clock, and I’ll be home and in bed by 7:30.
The actor followed up on his idea in a recent interview with Todaynoting how she asked musicians to adopt her idea from previous shows.
She said, “Why are there no matinees?” For example, I love Coldplay. I would love to go see Coldplay. The problem is, I’m not going to see Coldplay if they start their show at nine o’clock and there’s an opening act. I want to hear Coldplay at 1 p.m. I think if we filled a stadium with people who want to see Coldplay in matinees, I think we would start a trend.
