This isn’t the first time Ballerini has specifically responded to the lyrics of “Over For You” in a song. In “Mountain With a View”, the title track of her Roll up the welcome mat EP, she answers Evans’ main question. “I still wear the ring, but I think I’m lying / Sometimes you forget yours, I think we’re done trying / I realized you love me a lot more at 23 / I think that’s when it’s over for me,” she sings.
Released on Valentine’s Day (February 14), Ballerini’s Roll up the welcome mat is a six-song reflection on the grief, grief, anger and healing she experienced during the divorce.
