A Florida teenager has been arrested after he fatally shot and killed a member of a rival gang, then bragged about the murder in a rap song.
Fox 13 reports La’Darion Chandler, 19, of Lakeland, Florida, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the December shooting death of 33-year-old John Daniel McGee. on the street, spent 24 days in hospital recovering. He later succumbed to his injuries because he did not follow doctors’ orders and take the medications he was prescribed.
“He’s a troublemaker, make no mistake about it, but he shouldn’t have died,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told reporters at a news conference this week.
According to Judd, McGee was more focused on seeking revenge for the shooting than healing his injuries.
“He was going to heal and go back and seek revenge on himself against this other opposing gang member,” Judd said. “What we believe is that he wanted to deal with it himself. He didn’t want that gang member locked up because if he was locked up he couldn’t get to him.
While investigating the shooting, law enforcement officials discovered that Chandler had made a rap video in which he bragged about the incident.
“He’s not really a rapper. My rapping expert says he doesn’t sing well. He doesn’t move well. He’s just a bad rapper. But he’s a stupid rapper. Not only does he make a rap video about shooting someone, but he also admits to shooting the guy in the back. I’m a loose rapper, that’s what I am. Watch me shoot the guy in the back,” Judd said.
In addition to the first degree murder charge, Chandler was charged as a convicted offender in possession of a firearm and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
